Canadian Census Dates
Early Canadian censes were regional, with some provinces continuing to have specialist censes between the federal ones. Up until 1867 when Canada became one nation, there were 98 separate censes taken!
- 1825 Lower Canada (Quebec) taken from June 20 to September 20, 1825
- 1831 Lower Canada (Quebec) taken from June 1 to October 1, 1831
- 1842 Canada West (Ontario) returns were supposed to be completed by February 1, 1842
- January 12, 1852 (delays led to the late enumeration of the 1851 Census)

- March 31, 1901
- June 24, 1906 (special census - only Northwest Provinces: Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba)
- June 1, 1911

- June 1, 1921 - Just released
- 1926 (third census of the prairie provinces)

Canada uses a 92-year rule for the release of the data from its censes.
